Published between 1749 & 1756, this twelve-volume work was the largest of Swedenborg's writings. In it he demonstrates the Science of Correspondences by which the Bible may be better understood. Although it is mainly a verse-by-verse explanation of the inner meaning of the books of Genesis and Exodus, many other parts of the Bible are also treated. Topics discussed along the way include marriage, spiritual growth, life after death, and the relationship between spiritual things and natural things.
