Doctrine of Charity
What is charity? This useful little book is chock full of answers to the question of how we should behave towards others. Who exactly is our neighbor? Exactly how can we serve them? Emanuel Swedenborg presents careful descriptions of the nature of charity, what it is and what it is not, who should be performing good deeds for whom, and how to perform them. This book directly applies to everyday life, and the ideal way to live.

Life in Animals and Plants
|
|

Life In Animals & Plants By Emanuel Swedenborg/ Translated by John Chadwick
Life In Animals & Plants is extracted from Chapter 19 of Swedenborg's larger work The Apocalypse Explained.
What is life? The biologist today is in the position of the engineer who can take to pieces a machine, but who cannot see what function the machine as a whole serves. Swedenborg explains this inability of science to cope with metaphysics by asserting that these concepts are spiritual. Written between 1757-59, it describes the spiritual principles underlying life.
